development of a new electrical connection for the HSC safety edge

At: Haake Technik GmbH

Safety edges are employed in a number of safety applications, like revolving doors or machine covers, where moving parts create shearing or crushing edges. By sensing contact with obstacles, often body parts in particular, and integrating into the machine controls it can automatically stop the dangerous movement.

Certain assembly steps, especially considering the connection of the sensor element of the HSC to the machine, take a considerable amount of time in assembly.

In the course of this project, a new plug was developed, that combines multiple functions and assembly steps into one part. Additionally, a new way of connecting the outlet cable also created further advantages in assembly, installation, and repair, as the wire could now also be replaced.
