Laser welding is a precise welding technique for which small tolerances are required. Therefore, a complicated jig is used. However, in some cases such jig is not available and another fixture assembly is used. This research explores possibility to use fused filament fabrication (3d-printing) to produce parts of these assemblies, which can have major producability advantages. A fixture design was created by keeping the limits and possibilities of the 3d-printing process in mind, and was used to test different materials in the laser welding environment. The results show that the materials and the FFF process has potential to be implemented in the future.
