Redesigning and greening of a primary school yard

This assignment deals with redesigning the schoolyard of the Nutsbasisschool Burgst in Breda. The current schoolyard of the primary school is a cement paved playspace that does not offer the children enough equipment. The school wished to transform the yard into a green schoolyard and incorporate new play equipment that promotes different play activities.

The final design is visualized in a landscape plan. The new concept is a combination of natural equipment, such as a mud kitchen or an insect hotel and manufactured play equipment, such as a climbing frame and a log parkour. In addition, a lot of greenery is planted to provide shade and places to hide and vegetable patches offer the children a space to plant veggies and learn all about healthy nutrition.
