Bachelor Assignment

Uniplastic is a collaboration between a healthcare organisation (Zideris) and students (Enactus), together they collect local thermoplastic waste, mainly PP and HDPE. This plastic waste is shredded and sorted so it can be remelted to form new products.

After research into the field of plastic recycling, idea generation and concept development, multiple prototypes were created including a Stool, Lamp and Bench. The lamp created from plastic waste was further developed for production to enter the market and is now for sale at local stores. 

The frame and electronics are assembled by the collaborators at Uniplastic. The panels are made from recycled PP, the combination of transparent and colored plastic flakes creates unique and colorful patterns.
