The superyacht market is driven by extravagance, style and innovation. This makes it all the more surprising that certain aspects of yachting have remained unchanged over the past centuries. Fenders are a prominent example of that. They are used to protect a vessel from impacts during and after the mooring (i.e. ‘parking’) procedure. Unfortunately, the use of fenders proposes several issues and inconveniences.

The presented solution is a replacement for these conventional fenders. It consists of several units which are mounted onto or into the hull and are able to automatically deploy and retract. The solution improves the current situation by offering more efficient operation and thorough integration, on the functional and aesthetic level. Additionally, it drastically lowers safety concerns, since it provides the yacht with better impact protection.
