Creating better living conditions for dogs in the animal shelters

This assignment is commissioned by Dierenopvangcentrum Enschede (Animal Shelter). The aim of the research project is to identify and create a solution that will give the dogs an improved well-being in the animal shelters.

Better living conditions are created through an improved well-being, which can be achieved by changing the sensory perceptions. The end result is a Night Doghouse and must ensure that (1) the dogs experience less noise of the dog wing;  (2) there is an improved stable temperature within the design; (3) the dogs can hide from the sights of other dogs and the volunteers; and (4) the dogs have a freedom of choice. However, to conclude if the design is indeed sufficient, there should be a testing period, where dogs and other components will be monitored.
