Bachelor Assignment

In collaboration with local organisations, the Municipality of Houten aims to close the waste-circle by collecting used (building)-materials from residents and reusing them in a sustainable manner. The design takes the shape of a Retourette; a system where residents can deliver their materials as opposed to the waste station, giving them a second life and enabling others to buy cheap materials. The organisation can offer work-like experiences to employees with poor job-prospects, a pioneering as the first completely local venture to do so. Added to this can be the upcycling of products in a workshop, an online platform enabling the ordering of materials and the presence of bringing residents together in creativity and education.
