Designing a Workspace to Limit Human Error When Torqueing
At: VDL ETG Almelo
During this thesis a workspace at VDL Enabling Technologies Group in Almelo was designed. This workspace has to enable mechanics working with automatic torque wrenches in a cleanroom to make less human errors.
To enable this a shadow board was designed that houses the torque wrenches. The board was designed in a way that makes it very hard to gather the wrong torque wrench or to place a torque wrench back in the wrong spot. Furthermore an automatic bit selector was implemented and a ridable cart was added where the mechanic could store his tools. Next to that a screen was integrated on this cart. For this screen a digital work instruction was developed. This work instruction helps the mechanics recognize and correct errors they make.
