A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON AN ELECTRIC ASTON MARTIN DB5
At: Noble House Classics
Noble House Classics in Almere is looking into the option of converting classic Aston Martins to electric drive. This thesis is a feasibility study on the conversion of an Aston Martin DB5, to find the limits and possibilities of converted classics. The research starts with a theoretical background on electric driving in general. With this knowledge, different powertrain concepts have been created. The concept with the most promising future is chosen to be developed further. This concept is used to reflect on the feasibility of an electric DB5. The biggest challenge here was to stay below the original weight of the car.
The final concept has similar acceleration and top speed as the original car, because the motor and battery pack can deliver 280 hp. The power goes through a normal 5 speed transmission. Only the driving range is limited.
