Analysis of “active” protection system within PPE

At: Benchmark

This thesis has analyzed a multitude of methods that could potentially be used as active systems within personal protection equipment. Resulting in two potentially viable systems, one based on electricity and the other on UV-C light. The method based on electricity, developed by Vomaris, needs more testing and peer-reviewing in order to prove its efficiency. However, this method would allow for a system that is simple and small. The UV-C light method is a known and proven method. It is however a method that poses more health risks and needs a more complicated design of the mask. Both methods, combined with filters, can offer a very interesting new direction in the market for PPE mouth masks.
