Development of an interactive VR training scenario for WHO’s Ebola treatment centers Safe and dignified burial
At: WHO-Téchne
This project involved designing a digital training scenario for healthcare workers involved in the Ebola outbreak response. The focus was on Safe and Dignified Burial procedures, which are critical for preventing infection when handling deceased patients. The simulation, developed in Unreal Engine, guides users step by step through WHO's protocols inside a virtual Ebola Treatment Center. It includes tasks such as body preparation, disinfection, and controlled family viewing, using interactive pop-ups and feedback to support learning. The tool is designed to be used on a laptop and complement physical training, offering a safe, repeatable way to learn high-risk procedures. It improves procedural knowledge, increases safety awareness, and helps prepare healthcare workers for deployment in real-world crisis situations.
