Awear is a start-up from NovelT working on body sensors that remind people to keep a good posture. The sensors are designed for physiotherapy patients to recover faster from their injuries. The casing for these sensors was designed. The project was a typical IDE project; with ideation, concept generation, prototype modelling, user testing, iterating, a final design and a cost estimation. The final concept for the casing looks like a shield. It was designed to look like a safe, luxurious medical product that stands out from competitors. Three plastic parts are connected with snap fits and a flexible button is glued on. The shape and colours were chosen for a clear orientation, which is important for calibration of the sensors. A cheaper design alternative was presented for mass production.
