Designing Puzzles for an Educational Escape Room in Humanitarian Engineering
This project focused on designing three puzzles for an Educational Escape Room (EER) to introduce Master's students of Humanitarian Engineering (HE) to the main principles of HE. Theoretical research identified the main elements of a puzzle in an EER, methods to measure puzzle success, and requirements for ergonomic transportation. The three puzzles addressed selecting a safe zone to build a shelter, filtering water, and a concluding game that summarizes the main concepts of HE and focuses on cooperation. After ideating sketches and testing low-fidelity prototypes, three final designs were developed. Each puzzle demonstrates one of the main skills or principles of HE, and all puzzles are ready to use.
