Developing a cooking monitoring device for home cooks
At: Solinger
Overcooking can lead to food waste, damaged cookware, and health risks like kitchen fires. My bachelor project for Solinger focused on designing a solution that helps mitigate overcooking. This resulted in a smart cooking monitoring device, incorporated into a detachable pan handle. This device helps users monitor both time and pan temperature. The latter of the two is used to alarm users of temperature related issues, like, overheating, temperature surges, overcooking, and caking, as these can lead to kitchen fires and health risks. The alarms are signaled to users through audiovisual cues directly on the device and potentially on their phones. This product helps mitigate health risks, food waste, and degradation of cookware and food quality.
