Bachelor Assignment

This Bachelor's assignment involves the redesign of a lightbox, owned by Enschede-situated start-up OneThird. It is used to create homogeneous circumstances for visual quality control of fresh produce, using a machine learning algorithm and smartphone imaging. The redesign focused on various issues that were present in the original prototype, deduced through a stakeholder analysis. From this, it was found that the most potential added value was found in improving the assembly process, increasing the usability, and aligning the product with future development of the company and their algorithm. The result is a redesign that employs principles of Design for Assembly (DfA) and modularity to fulfil these goals. This design was prototyped, from which final recommendations for future development of the product were derived.
