Haunted Devices

This thesis presents the development of two props designed to enable communication and detection of in-game ghosts in Logic Locks' upcoming experience - a company well known in the escape-room industry. A handheld EMF Reader is intended for mobile search, while a tabletop Communication Device enables contact. The design requirements were informed by a stakeholder analysis and a focused State of the Art. Two concepts were developed for each device and explored through foam mock-ups. Further refinement of the selected concepts led to the creation of two fully functional, playtest-ready prototypes. The devices align with the narrative of the experience, offer clear and engaging user experiences, and support smooth operation and maintenance for staff.
