Bachelor Assignment

This thesis examines a design intervention to transform a heritage off-road vehicle into a luxurious and exclusive vehicle. More specifically, it explores the cultural meanings of luxury, particularly around the idea of old money luxury, and mediates that meaning through design criteria, culminating into a developed restomod proposal for the vehicle. This thesis demonstrates how design research can mediate tradition and modernity to create sophistication and vehicles that are both authentic, while still desirable to a contemporary luxury consumer.
