Counter metered-dose inhaler for lung diseases
Some lung patients with asthma or COPD depend on a specific type of inhaler, the metered-dose
inhaler, for their medication. By pressing, the medication comes out as a spray, similar to a canister
with deodorant. Each metered-dose inhaler can be used a certain number of times before it has to be
replaced. The problem, however, is that many metered-dose inhalers do not show in any way how
often they have been used. Lung patients can get into trouble because of this.
A simple mechanical counter should offer a solution. The design contains a plastic U-clamp that can
be slid around the neck of metered-dose inhalers of various sizes and a metal push button that
reaches over the compressible can of the metered-dose inhaler. This way, each activation
automatically takes care of a count. Reusable after a reset on a new metered-dose inhaler.
