Adapting a tricycle to achieve a more natural riding experience
At: Van Raam
Van Raam's carving trike project aimed to combine the stability of a traditional three-wheeler with the dynamic feel of a two-wheeled bicycle. The final prototype featured a parallelogram mechanism allowing the trike to lean smoothly, replicating the natural motion of a bike. Adjustable geometry and the parallelogram mechanism being lockable enhanced stability and usability, though further refinement is needed for low-speed stability. Testing showed promising results, with users appreciating the experience at higher speeds, though struggling a little at lower speeds. The main reccomendation is improving the balance mechanism and. This design has the potential to provide more intuitive cycling option for individuals seeking enhanced mobility.
