Bachelor Assignment

The assignment was executed for Aircrete Europe, a Dutch supplier of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) manufacturing equipment. AAC is a precast building material that comes in many shapes, including U-blocks, characterized by a U-shaped cross section. The aim of the assignment was to develop an approach for optimizing the engineering process of the U-block manufacturing machine so that it could be efficiently customized for a specific customer request. The result is a digital interactive product configurator that aids the user in generating sales price, system description, system requirements and system visualization of the most suitable machine concept. The result was achieved by studying the state of the art of U-blocks manufacturing, synthesizing the system architecture of a generalized U-block machine and applying that knowledge for developing the engineer-to-order product configurator.
