Development of a Robust Vibration Unit for an E-textile Haptic Feedback System
At: Saxion University of Applied Sciences
This project relates to the creation of a device which provides vibration feedback to a runner to stop common injuries in the lower extremity (legs). This device is designed to work alongside a system of sensors, all of which will be attached to a pair of leggings with electrical connections knitted in. Several design options were created using a variety of attachment systems. From these options two were selected to be prototyped and tested mechanically. One final design was selected which attaches a pair of c-clips and tubular elements mounted to the leggings. In addition, this project focused on increasing the durability of the device by adding waterproofing and experimenting with strong and flexible plastics. The final design was modified to be easier to produce and will be used in a demonstration of the system.
