Velda is exploring the possibilities in developing a new type of heron deterrent that is more effective than current deterrents on the market. The objective of this assignment was to create an active heron deterrent that uses physical movements as its repelling technique. By means of research, analyses, and interviews a proposal was made on how to improve current heron deterrents. The combination of the aforementioned methods, concept generation and an experimental study resulted in the proposal for several techniques which can be integrated to create a new type of heron deterrent. The thesis simultaneously suggests that the exclusion of herons may be achievable in other manners that might be more effective than an active heron deterrent.
