Designing an electronic health record with telephony integration: exploring the needs of general practitioner assistants

At: Nedap

The bachelor assignment aimed to design a telephony integration within an electronic health record used in physician practices. A co-design method, combined with a user-centred design approach and a design thinking method, was used to gather input from general practitioner assistants. A combined stakeholder and user flow analysis resulted in the user flow diagram of the telephony integration, showing how each person or system was involved in the work process. Combining the research done at physician practices and the survey results, several concepts were created in the electronic health record. An integrated user interface design was further developed and tested through clickable prototypes by general practitioner assistants, leading to the complete design of the telephony interface.
