Redesign of the Box-it-up outdoor BOX
At: Salland Storage
This Bachelor's assignment aims to enhance the design of the metal casing used for the wooden storage crates at BOX-it-up. The primary research question was: How can the metal casing of these crates be redesigned to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability during transportation? To answer this, research including observations and simulations was conducted, leading to the development of several innovative concepts. These included adding a thicker stability bar for improved strength, incorporating curved brackets into the truck for better efficiency, creating a user-friendly leaflet for better communication, and introducing ventilation and insulation to protect the contents. Additionally, dimensional changes were made to optimize efficiency and to account for the thicker walls of insulation. Each of these ideas was developed into a detailed design, contributing to a more efficient and safer product for BOX-it up's storage and transport needs.
