Co-designing a solution to keep learning: empowering students to design their learning process

This thesis explores how secondary school students can be empowered to take ownership of their learning. A Lot of students, especially those who are neurodivergent, struggle to communicate their needs and get the right support in the class. To change this, the Design Your Life toolkit is redesigned for the context of secondary schools. Through co-design with students, it showed that the toolkit helps students reflect on how they learn and helps with creating a personal support product that expresses the students' needs. The study also shows that involving students as co-designers increases empowerment, inclusivity, collaboration, and understanding, resulting in a more supportive and engaging learning environment for everyone.
