Designing a fire and theft proof charging station for detachable batteries of electric micromobility vehicles
At: Company X
This thesis serves as a foundation to understand the current state of charging of detachable batteries of electric micromobility vehicles, like e-bikes, in collective residential buildings and how the design of a fire safe and anti-theft charging locker can respond to the current situation. To ensure confidentiality, the company where the assignment was conducted is called Company X. Company X is active in micromobility charging solutions and could develop a lower cost variant of their product to address a wider market, like housing corporations. This research translates the needs, wishes and technical aspects into core requirements of a minimum viable solution, and offers a design exploration of several sub-solutions to meet these requirements, providing a mid-fidelity design direction for what such a design might look like.
