Traditionally, it takes 12 to 24 hours to make cold brew coffee. There are however new emerging technologies that can do this within a couple of minutes. The client for this assignment wanted to gain knowledge about this and therefore the goal of this project was to design the inner workings of a consumer product that can make cold brew drinks quickly. The project consisted of researching various ways to speed up the cold brewing process and then generating ideas which resulted in a couple of concept directions. A prototype was built for the most promising concept. With this prototype, extraction and taste tests were performed to determine the optimal brewing parameters. The resulting prototype is able to make quite tasty cold brew drinks in 3 to 4 minutes.
