Bachelor Assignment

This thesis focused on aiding couples, of whom one person with dementia, who move to the care facility Landgoed de Zwanenhof to receive necessary care. After a literature review, expert meetings and ideation, the project resulted in a concept for an evidence-based tool that helps adapt the new apartment to better match the couple's previous home, habits, preferences and needs. The tool combines personal information and insights from literature on dementia design principles to give personal design advice and regular evaluation of the living situation at Landgoed de Zwanenhof over time. The advice includes a proposed room layout, explanations of evidence-based design and furniture choices, and information about dementia, bundled together in a booklet.
