Design of a Wooden Toy for Children with Cerebral Palsy
At: TjuTjo
Cerebral palsy (CP), a disorder that causes people to lose control over their muscles, can happen in one side of the body, which is called unilateral CP. A type of therapy called the piratengroep trains children with unilateral CP to do daily tasks. They have their unaffected hand in a sling while they are pretending to be pirates.
For TjuTjo, a producer of wooden toys, a product was developed for the children that attend the piratengroep. The end result is a ship, on which blocks with loops can be put. To move these blocks, the children use pirate hooks. Furthermore, cards are included with configurations of blocks.
