Implementation of an active filtering technique into a medical mouth mask concept

At: Benchmark Electronics Almelo

During the past pandemic crisis, there was high stress and a big risk for medical professionals operating at the front line. One of the main reasons staff gets infected is because of contaminated equipment, on which virus particles could stay viable for multiple days. To prevent this, I developed a medical mouth mask that incorporates an innovative filtering technique. This mask actively destroys virus particles, while implementing two ergonomic improvements; an active air exchange system to improve breathability and a transparent front to improve recognition and nonverbal communication. With this new design, masks could be used for an extended time while better protecting medical professionals and patients in high-risk environments.
