A redesign of the Wilmer Carrying Orthosis shoulder bandage

At: Ambroise

The Wilmer Carrying Orthosis (WCO) is a shoulder brace designed for people with a partially or totally dislocated shoulder, called a (sub)luxation. However, it has appeared that the upper part of the shoulder orthosis causes discomfort to users. In this thesis, an attempt was made to find a solution to the established problems, by redesigning the shoulder orthosis. It was the challenge to eliminate the uncomfortable chest strap in the redesign, but still keep the function of the orthosis. Eventually, a functional redesign direction of the WCO was created. But more investigation and elaboration are necessary to find out whether the redesign direction can be elaborated into a more comfortable solution than the old design.
