Explainable Artificial Intelligence is a research field that aims to create transparency and give an insight into Artificial Intelligence algorithms. By involving Explainable AI users gain the power to decide whether or not to trust the AI.  Currently, in the Explainable AI field there are few methods available for explaining algorithms. Most methods focus on the explaining rather than integrating the explanations into a design. It was researched how findings from this field could be applied to the design of a nutrition planning app for cyclists: EatMyRide.  

Using Explainable AI on the EatMyRide application should enhance the confidence and trust of users in the application. Throughout this assignment the effects of different Explainable AI methods on users have been researched. A recommendation for applying Explainable AI to the EatMyRide application has been established.
