A trend is going on in the current market: the demand for single office chair casters is growing, and especially the inline wheel category. Traditional furniture wheels are being replaced by styled casters. People prefer open, transparent wheels, together with a smooth driving experience. For this thesis, the goal was to develop a single inline office chair caster made out of glass-fiber-reinforced nylon, to be made via injection moulding. During the ideation phase, various concepts and prototypes were developed. In the end, one final caster was selected, which has been developed according to mass manufacturing guidelines. Five high quality nylon 3D prints were ordered, and tested under a real office leg. In the end, cost price calculations have shown that the caster can be manufactured for an accepted price.
