Redesigning a Smart Lock for Use in a Storage Park
At: Universal Storage Containers
To make a smart lock suitable for an outdoor environment, specifically an outdoor storage park, it needs to be waterproof and able to withstand low temperatures. To achieve waterproofing all gaps where water could get in should be closed off. This can be done by using O-rings, waterproof membranes and adhesive seals to create an enclosure around the lock. To manage low temperatures, two options can be considered; one for cold climates and one for moderate climates. For cold climates, the lock's batteries can be changed to ones that work in cold weather well. For moderate climates, the lock can be insulated so that it can withstand freezing weather for several hours.
