In order to help Farmax set the first steps towards full automation of their tillage machines, a research was performed to see how the machines could be equipped with sensor technique to give numerical feedback to the operator. Also this research entails the translation of raw sensor data to the ISOBUS language that is used on all modern agricultural equipment. The parameter this research focussed on is the spading depth. The proposed sensor is a specific type of sensor that can be setup such that the sensor can measure from the machine to the soil, without interference from plants or other organic material. The research focussed only on feedback to the user, the next step in automation would be to add electronic control, to adjust parameters.
