The Implementation of Model-based definition in a Manufacturing Environment

Model-based definition (MBD) is a new way of working where all Product and Manufacturing Information is stored in the 3D CAD model so that the 2D technical drawing can be replaced. Currently, this way of working is not implemented in VDL ETG Almelo. The assignment was exploratory research about possible efficiency improvements when MBD is implemented for 100% within the manufacturing environment of the company and when there are no previous limitations. The final result of the assignment is a clear overview of improvements for five involved departments of VDL ETG and some following recommendations for the future.
