Bachelor Assignment

This graduation assignment focuses on optimising the usability and looks of the FD-1 controller for start-up Logue aiming to bring back an analogue feeling while keeping the perks of digital production. The research question guiding this project was How to optimise the usability and looks of the Logue FD-1 to help digital music producers improve their creative flow? Literature review and design thinking method were applied to answer the research question and deliver redesigned FD-1 controller. New aspects introduced to FD-1 design included adjustable casing made from walnut panels and aluminium, cross button navigation method, rotary page switch and fader panel with LED frames for grouping and value indication. Finally, a look and feel prototype was created to test the newly introduced features and looks of the controller with the representatives of the target group.
