"AWEAR": A tool to support sustainable clothing consumption by young adults
At: Snijboon
With co-design methods the tool AWEAR was developed to help YA consume more consciously when regards to (impulsive) fashion purchases and how often items are worn (utilization rates). The tool consists of two parts: 1) An app with a digital wardrobe and outfit generator that helps the user to wear their own clothes more often. 2) A browser extension that interrupts the purchase process and provides reflection prompts for the user to reflect on an item before purchase. A prototype of the concept was tested with potential users. Most participants liked the functions and could see themselves using the app, but further development and evaluation is needed to find out if it decreases impulse purchases and increases utilization rates.
