Bachelor Assignment

De Beleving, Interieur en Meer B.V. creates customised interior designs and furniture mainly for schools and childcare centres. For my thesis, I researched and developed a durable product for this company that integrated light and water play to stimulate children's creativity, exploration and development. Interviews with the 2 to 8-year-olds indicated that they enjoy light features and using their hands to feel different kinds of textures and move materials around (using their sensorimotor skills). The table design emphasises that by including a slide and vertical sieves to create various material flows. Furthermore, the table has translucent storage trays for toys (loose parts) and a see-through water container.
