Bachelor Assignment

The StowMover is the name of the trailer in Salland Storage's unique StowBox concept. It is an innovative concept in which a storage container, the StowBox, can be detached from the StowMover. This way, the client can drive and load the StowBox like a normal storage trailer, but the StowBox can be lifted from the StowMover and stored inside the company's facility. Only a few StowMovers are needed for a large amount of StowBoxes, therefore the StowMover is frequently used. The goal of this thesis was redesigning the StowMover for an easier handling by the employees and a larger payload capacity. Safety, cost, weight and manufacturability were the key parameters during the redesign. The final design is capable of carrying 25% more weight, while improving the handling for the employees.
