CONCEPTING A LINEN FLOW AND INTEGRATING IT INTO A CRUISE SHIP
The thesis, affiliated with MEYER WERFT, focuses on optimizing the linen material flow on cruise ships. Current inefficiencies prompt an idea for an automated linen lift system. Integrating this concept into the ship design requires in-time consideration. Potential benefits include the reduction of late changes during the designing process and space and time savings on the operating ships. Challenges exist in technical detailing, particularly concerning the automated sub-systems. Valuable lessons include the importance of clear communication in contract negotiations and using the insights gained on facility usage for the layout of a ship.
