Designing a tool to make buyers aware of, and guide them in the design choices for tiny houses, while facilitating conversations with producers

At: Maatwerk BV

Housing shortage has been a persistent problem in Netherlands for quite some time, and tiny houses, with a maximum floor area of fifty square meters, seem to be a practical solution, as their portability circumvents the need for a permanent building. This thesis centres on investigating the benefits of tiny houses and strategies for effectively communicating these advantages to the public. Literature and field research result in three end products: a customisable tiny house concept, a scale model of this concept and a corresponding leaflet containing information on its benefits and production process. These end products aid the client in gaining new clients and facilitate conversations with them as well as setting up their new tiny house production.
