Bachelor Assignment

This assignment addresses the need for effective communication of hazard-resilient housing measures through a design catalogue. The objective is to determine the requirements for a comprehensive design catalogue for homeowners and to devise a structural framework for its development.

The research methodology involves a field study conducted in Kathmandu which entailed collaboration with the Nepalese Flood Technical Working Group and interviews with local experts. The aim was to gather insights into existing housing projects, architectural typologies, and design considerations for flood resilience. The essential contents of a design catalogue dedicated to hazard-resilient housing have been identified through a literature review, as well as the optimal way to represent these contents for the target users.  The needs of the target users have been identified through the use of personas developed based on the insights gathered from the field study.
