Bachelor Assignment

This assignment focused on redesigning the top ring and sleeve of the fall line pipe used in Subsea Rock Installation (SRI) vessels, specifically for Van Oord. The goal was to improve the assembly process, enhance the reusability of the components, and ensure they can withstand operational loads in challenging marine environments. Through simulations and design iterations, a new top ring was developed that fits within the existing vessel structures, reduces assembly time, and meets most functional requirements. However, further testing, including fatigue and environmental stress tests, is needed to fully validate the design. The final result is a more sustainable and efficient solution that aligns with Van Oord's sustainability goals, while addressing key operational challenges in subsea rock placement.
