Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen wants to extend its current collection in order to improve addressing consumers with a balcony. The purpose was therefore to design garden furniture that is suitable for a balcony.

In order to determine which aspects the new product had to meet, firstly an extensive analysis was done. This resulted in a variety of design proposals, of which two were elaborated: a multifunctional lounge set that can be used in different setups and a folding table that can be attached to the balustrade.

In addition, it was concluded that addressing the target group can not only be improved by expanding the collection, but also by improving the way of presenting the garden furniture, for example in the showroom. Also for this a number of proposals have been made.
