Concept exploration for a Donkervoort off-roader

CONCEPT EXPLORATION FOR NEW MARKET SEGMENTS
Donkervoort Automobielen is a dedicated sports car manufacturer, producing extreme, lightweight super cars. Since all of their open-top roadsters of today are very much based on the same, traditional open-wheel concept, the challenge was to explore conceptual designs for new market segments. In order to do so, the Vision in Design (ViP) method by Hekkert & Van Dijk was applied, resulting in a future context scenario for the year 2033. Combing those insights with extensive market research led to different design concepts. Among others, off-road capabilities were explored, as well as innovative, sustainable powertrain solutions. The final design was created entirely in virtual reality (VR), at the VR-Lab of the University of Twente, using state-of-the art Gravity Sketch software.
