Bachelor Assignment

For my final bachelors assignment I developed a concept for a pedal-powered scroll saw for the company Flevobike Technology. The company believes that this concept (the pedalsaw), can be of great value for pupils in secondary schools.

The pedalsaw can help make machinery more accessible. The sawblade only moves when the user pedals, providing a great sense of control and security. Next to that, it can provide the users with valuable insights in how machinery behaves. The effect of the pedalling movement can be observed and the effect of a blunt sawblade or unsuitable material can be experienced.

The design of the pedalsaw is transparent, friendly and durable. The whole mechanism is suspended between the two plywooden frame panels, making manufacturing and assembly easier.
