A study on the electrification of a classic Aston Martin

At: Noble House Classics

This is a continuation of a previous research on the electrification of an Aston Martin DB5, done at Noble House. Noble House Classic Cars is specialized in the maintenance and restoration of classic British cars. Their expertise and quality craftsmanship have granted them the title of Aston Martin Heritage Dealer. A feasibility study was performed on the application of a hydrogen fuel cell in the electric conversion. Hydrogen has a very high energy density and is gaining popularity with big car manufacturers. A model was built to assess different combinations of fuel cells and battery packs. From the model, a final concept was created and compared to the earlier designed battery electric driveline. The use of hydrogen proved to be too expensive for the limited increased range.
