Designing a Product Family for Outdoor Living Spaces

SIL Products, a design and production company of electronic products, is enrolling a new marketing strategy within their company, creating product families within themes. For this assignment, the new marketing strategy is executed for the predetermined theme of outdoor living spaces. The aim of the assignment is to (re)design an electronic consumer product within an esthetic pleasing style to make it part of a product family, ultimately allowing it to improve the quality and comfort of outdoor living spaces and the preparation thereof.
A product family is determined based on the user analysis by an experience map. The outdoor plug socket and the wall light are worked out to a final product proposal. Furthermore, the style guidelines of the overall product family are described, which convey the determined brand values of sophisticated, qualitative/reliable and simplistic.
