Bachelor Assignment

Aeronamic is active in Aerospace industry. They develop, manufacture, assemble and maintain aircraft components for customers like Boeing, Airbus and the U.S. Military. Some of these components are turbine wheels. To prepare these for CNC milling, the turbine wheels are mounted on metal pallets. This used to be a manual process which caused stress on the upper body of the operators. Furthermore, the process could result in handling defects. Hence, the goal of the assignment was to design a device that improves ergonomics and prevents manufacturing defects. This goal has been achieved by developing, building, testing and improving a high-fidelity prototype based on the theoretical framework. The result is a fully functional end product that is being used in the factory. At the time of writing, over 300 turbine wheels have successfully been assembled and disassembled using the mounting mechanism.
